Two Italian relative pronouns: “che” and “cui”
Che and cui are two Italian relative pronouns that are used to join phrases with a common element, and che or cui replace it.
We use che (invariable relative pronoun) to replace a subject or a direct object ( i.e. without a preposition), example:
Il libro che ho letto è molto interessante
la ragazza che beve il caffè è mia sorella
We use cui (invariable relative pronoun) to replace an indirect object (i.e. an object preceded by a preposition), example:
Tags: prepositionLa città da cui provengo è sulle montagne
Quella è l’amica di cui ti ho parlato
Il ragazzo con cui sono uscita ieri si chiama Mario
