The Italian word of the week: ” cavarsela”
Cavarsela is an Italian pronominal verb. Pronominal verbs are verbs with one or two pronouns that change a little the original meaning of the verb. Italians use very often this verbs in the spoken language.Cavarsela means get away with, for example:
L’esame era difficile ma me la sono cavata bene
Non lavora mai, ma se la cava sempre
The conjugation in the present tense is the following:
io me la cavo
tu te la cavi
lui/lei se la cava
noi ce la caviamo
voi ve la cavate
loro se la cavano
Do you know other pronominal verbs and their meaning?

I LOVE your site! I have been studying Italian for 2 years. I would love any advice you might have for training my listening comprehension. When I rent Italian movies, either they are in southern dialect, like Ciao, professore!, or just too fast. I am getting fairly good at reading, although the pronominal verbs still fanno me impazzire.
Grazie por questo aiuto.
